Our Fairylight Curtain
How life began for our famous fairylight curtain…
At Inn On The Lake in Glenridding, The Candleroom was first opened on May 28th 2016 so we took a look around and were very impressed. Shortly after, one of our brides-to-be asked us if we could create something to cover the stunning glass front window for her evening wedding reception in June 2016. We didn’t have long, so that night in our local pub (where many of our best business ideas are born!), we designed the concept for our fairylight curtain…
Now, it’s one of the most popular venue décor options frequently chosen by our Brides and Grooms at Inn On The Lake.
It’s often affectionately called ‘the twinkly curtain’, even though it doesn’t really twinkle.
The Candleroom is already a very stylish room and our fairylight curtain just adds that extra elegance, whilst offering a little more privacy and hiding the carpark outside from view.

Sometimes our couples want a little ‘theatre’…
or choose to have the fairy lights exposed,
which is where we get a little more fancy and swag the voile curtains.
Once it gets dark, you’ll get a lovely lighting effect from both the inside…
And from the outside, it creates a party atmosphere too!
The glow from the fairylight curtain offers a lovely welcome for your evening guests to see when they arrive to dance the night away.
Depending on which room you have your dance floor in, if you have exclusive use of the Candleroom only, then it also provides a fabulous backdrop for the all-important 1st dance!

Often couples will cut their wedding cake in front of the curtain
and it’s a great backdrop to take photos with your guests
Langley Castle is another venue where our fairylight curtain is a popular venue styling item, creating a wonderful atmosphere during the wedding breakfast
We designed the fairylight curtain in an L-shape to custom fit the space and frame the dancefloor area,
which provide an elegant lighting effect when the lights go down and a pretty background for that romantic first dance.
For Hexham Abbey weddings, we often put a fairylight curtain up at the far end of The Great Hall.
Not only does it break up the tall bare wall and hide the radiator, but again it provides a lovely background to capture those ‘bad dad’ moves on the dancefloor!
Setting up the fairylight curtain behind your top table gives the perfect backdrop so that photos and video footage of the embarrassing best man’s speech or the Father Of The Bride’s tear-jerker can be captured in all their glory.
We’ve set the fairylight curtain up as a photo backdrop for those all-important guest pics and selfies, shown here at Armathwaite Hall with a lovely balloon arrangement to ‘Capture the LOVE’!
At Heather Glen we use the fairylight curtain to hide guest’s view of the carpark during ceremonies.
It offers a lovely soft ‘fairy tale wedding’ feel for the I do’s and provides a pretty background for photos of the happy couple signing the register
Heck, we don’t only dress weddings… we’ve even created a fairylight Santa’s grotto
at The Trout Hotel in Cockermouth, for their annual ‘Breakfast With Santa’
